Stay Grounded. Stay Informed. Stay Elevated.

Whether you’re lighting up for the first time or revisiting cannabis after a break, consuming smart is the key to a good experience. At Ohm Theory, we’re not just about premium products, we’re about empowered, educated choices.

In this post, we’re breaking down safe and smart cannabis consumption with tips for every stage of your journey. Let’s elevate, not overwhelm.

1. Start Low, Go Slow

It’s the golden rule for a reason. Especially if you’re new to cannabis or trying a new product type (like edibles or concentrates), start with a low dose and give it time to take effect.

Guidelines:

    • Inhalables (Flower, Vapes): Start with 1-2 small puffs. Wait 10–15 minutes.
    • Edibles: Begin with 2.5–5mg of THC, then wait at least 90 minutes before deciding if you need more.
    • Tinctures: Try a small sublingual dose (e.g. 0.25–0.5ml) and wait 30–45 minutes.
2. Know Your Tolerance

Everyone’s endocannabinoid system is unique. If you’re a regular consumer, your tolerance may be higher, but that doesn’t mean more is better. Taking occasional “tolerance breaks” can help reset your system and make your sessions more effective (and cost-efficient!).

If you’re unsure, journal your experiences: dose, product, how you felt, and how long it lasted.

3. Understand THC, CBD & the Entourage Effect
    • THC gives you the classic psychoactive “high.
    • CBD is non-intoxicating and can balance or mellow THC’s effects.
    • The entourage effect means these cannabinoids (plus terpenes!) work better together.

Tip: If you ever get too high, try hydrating, or chewing peppercorns. yes, really, for their calming terpene beta-caryophyllene.

4. Avoid Mixing with Alcohol or Other Substances

Mixing substances can amplify side effects and lead to unpredictable experiences. If you’re experimenting with cannabis, it’s best to do so on its own, especially until you understand how it affects you personally.

5. Set & Setting Matter

Your environment impacts your experience more than you think. Be intentional about where and who you’re with:

    • Choose a comfortable, safe space
    • Be around trusted people, especially your first few times
    • Clear your schedule. allow time to just be
6. Hydrate. Eat. Rest.

Cannabis can dry you out, lower blood sugar, and make you forget to eat. Keep water nearby, have snacks on hand, and don’t underestimate the power of a good nap if needed.

7. Listen to Your Body

If something feels off, physically or mentally, pause. Your body will always give you signals. Honor that. It’s okay to take a break or not partake at all.
